Biblical Faith is an online project to faithfully teach God’s word. Here I share my academic and ministerial journey through the study of the Scriptures. I have modest goals for this project. I share my studies in the Scriptures to learn what they tell us about God and how this knowledge gives us a vision for how to live in fellowship with God and our neighbors as we try to figure out this thing called life.
My passion to know God better through the Scriptures has been present ever since I read the Gospels, which led me to have faith in Jesus Christ. My life has never been the same. I committed myself to be in the service of God’s people in the church. I have served congregations in local congregational ministry in California for 15 years, in Livingston (Livingston church of Christ) and Bakersfield (Highland church of Christ). I currently serve as the Dean of Students at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
I hold a degree in Bible with an emphasis on the Greek New Testament from Freed-Hardeman University, an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, and I am in the Master of Divinity program at the Graduate School of Theology, Freed-Hardeman University.
You will find a range of “hand-crafted” materials produced for different reasons and from different seasons of my life (academic papers, personal study, church publications, classes taught, etc.).
And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” (Matthew 13:52 English Standard Version)
This project is a one-man show, so to speak, though I am indebted to so many for where I am in my faith journey.
May this project and its developments bless you. They are my service to you because of Him Who called me into His precious grace.
In Christ Alone,
Jovan Payes
